Thursday, January 5, 2012

For generations of Oakland Tribune readers, Lee imageSusman’s cartoons on the sports pages were something to pore over. They included his daily A’s updates featuring mascot
“Charlie O,” Sportlight, a daily cartoon drawn from the national sports scene, and a twice-weekly college football cartoon. His work graced the Trib from 1946 until 1983. He died Sunday in Emeryville at age 94, two months after the death of his wife, Cathryne, who was 91. Obit: Tribune

Add: Among other things Susman designed the logo for the old Oakland Oaks baseball team of the Pacific Coast League.
