OR7, believed to be the first wild gray wolf to enter California in nearly a century, is roaming the forests of Shasta County, about 300 miles from the nearest known gray wolf pack in Oregon. Researchers are tracking him with a GPS collar, but aren’t being specific as to his whereabouts to protect him from camera and gun toters. Peter Fimrite has an updater in today’s Chronicle.
