Mirkarimi neighbor keeps her distance from the press

Thursday, January 19, 2012

imageThe neighbor at the center of domestic violence accusations against Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is maybe the hottest interview “get” in San Francisco right now, but she’s having none of it. The Bay Citizen produced a profile of Ivory Madison, to whom Mirkarimi’s wife, Eliana Lopez, famously turned on New Year’s Day, but without collecting any quotes from her. There is, however, this from former Chronicle editor-at-large Phil Bronstein, who befriended Madison through a social media website she founded for authors:

“She is always outspoken. Knowing Ivory, she probably agonized over what was the right thing to do. It is a tough situation to be in, if someone were to come to you in a state of distress, to determine what is the right thing to do.”
