  • UCSF’s chancellor unveiled a “novel governance” proposal under which it could separate from the rest of the UC system. Chronicle
  • The latest review of the Oakland Police Department shows no progress in reforms ordered a decade ago after the Riders police corruption case. Oakland Tribune
  • Underground Metro service was snarled for more than an hour after a drunken driver drove his SUV into a Muni Metro tunnel and got stuck a half-mile in. Chronicle
  • UC Berkeley faculty members got between Occupy Cal protestors and police during a takeover of the anthropology library last night. Oakland Tribune
  • Saint Mary’s, which cracked both the AP and USA Today Top 25 basketball rankings, won its 8th straight game, beating Pepperdine 61-47. Contra Costa Times
