Former Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley Brown, who’s 89, is donating $30 million to create a new media institute that will combine engineers from Stanford with the journalism school at Columbia. It’s way too early, of course, to know what, if any, impact such a gift may have, but giddy supporters are talking about how the institute could, as the Chronicle puts it, “create the future of journalism.”
