‘Nutcracker’ slump puts Oakland Ballet in a pinch

Monday, January 23, 2012

Oakland Ballet depends on The Nutcracker at holiday time to give its budget a boost. That didn’t happen in December, and Oakland North says the ballet’s board of directors has decided to postpone this spring’s Diaghilev Imagery program because funds are short. It was to have run from May 18-20.

Add: The ballet company sold 1,000 fewer tickets to The Nutcracker despite adding a fifth performance.
