Oakland’s austere budget unveiled yesterday leaves police and library services intact, but lays off 105 city workers and is brutal in other ways. The Oakland Zoo, Children’s Fairyland, Peralta Hacienda, arts programs and Symphony in the Schools will all see their funds slashed by 40 percent, the Chronicle says.
Add: The budget—no longer with state redevelopment money—slices $28 million, most of it from the city’s $388 million general fund.
