Courts,
Ross Mirkarimi
If new Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is charged, as now seems likely, with misdemeanor domestic violence, and were to be convicted, he’ll suffer the added indignity of being a lawman without a gun. Under state law he would have to forfeit his firearm. (Insert Andy Taylor of Mayberry jokes here.) The DA’s office is telling the Chronicle there doesn’t appear to be enough evidence to charge Mirkarimi with a felony in connection with the alleged assault New Year’s Eve against his wife, Eliana Lopez. She’s insisting nothing happened, but there is apparently video and text message evidence suggesting otherwise.
Report: misdemeanor charge likely against Mirkarimi
