Longtime CBS News reporter Richard Threlkeld, who went over to ABC for a few years before retiring in 1998, was killed in a car crash this morning near his home in upstate New York, AP says. He was 74. A familiar face during the Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather eras at CBS, Threlkeld’s countless reporting assignments included the Patty Hearst kidnapping and trial.
