Town puts ‘Project X,’ its big secret, on hold

Thursday, January 12, 2012

imageThe town of Patterson, beside I-5 about 50 miles south of Livermore, and known as the “Apricot Capital of the World,” has a big secret. A mysterious Internet-related mega-employer with up to 2,500 local jobs to offer is supposedly set to announce it’s moving in, presumably among the giant warehouses that have proliferated there in recent years. Think, uh, Amazon, maybe. Locals have code-named it Project X. Folks at City Hall (pictured) were set for the reveal yesterday but canceled a presser at the last minute, the Modesto Bee says.

Noted: Word is, Project X is still on. And yes, that’s a ton of new jobs for a town of 20,000.
