Trib takes aim at Occupy protesters over trademark

Monday, January 9, 2012

Are the Oakland Tribune’s corporate owners imagepicking a fight they can’t win? Instead of just ignoring it, Bay Area News Group has sent Occupy Oakland protesters a cease and desist letter over their new website, “Occupied Oakland Tribune,” claiming trademark infringement. The protesters have lined up pro bono help from Dan Siegel’s law firm and seem to welcome it. “We’re not afraid of a lawsuit,” says Occupy spokesman Scott Johnson. The Occupy Oakland press release is at the San Francisco Peninsula Press Club blog.
