Afterlife for the Metro: another fitness gym*

Friday, February 10, 2012

Nice video of the Metro Theater, the historic Cow Hollow movie palace at 2055 Union Street shuttered in 2006, produced as part of the effort to save it. The Planning Commission yesterday approved a renovation to slice it into three floors. Equinox Fitness will be the anchor tenant, the Examiner says. On the bright side, murals and columns are to be preserved.

Add: Cinema Treasures says the Metro opened April 23, 1924 with “The Fighting Coward,” a second-run silent.
