Opening date for the east span of the Bay Bridge: Labor Day 2013 or shortly thereafter, says Caltrans. The announcement came today at a meeting of the Bay Area Toll Authority. And if you’re still confused by that earlier plan to open the east and westbound lanes at different times, forget it. It’s all to happen simultaneously.
Noted: A Chronicle item uses $6.3 billion as the projected price tag. Whether or not it turns out to be more, it’s still likely the most expensive bridge in the history of the world.
