Dying man pleads for help on Mission sidewalk; nobody responds

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

imageA dying man, robbed and stabbed, cried for help on a Mission District sidewalk in the wee hours of Sunday morning, and nobody came to help. Mission Local says the man lay in the street for at least five hours after being attacked around 2 a.m. The medical examiner pronounced him dead sometime around 7:45 a.m. It happened on Julian Avenue, between 15th and 16th streets. Here’s an excerpt quoting an unnamed resident who was among those who saw the victim but didn’t respond:

“He was laying there and people we’re walking right by him,” he said. He added that he also did not call the police because ”I see people passed out all the time.” “I feel bad. He must have been there a while.”
