Is the local sports press finally turning on Andris Biedrins?

Sunday, February 12, 2012

imageThe media ceasefire for non-productive Warriors center Andris Biedrins appears finally to be ending. At least in the Chronicle. Al Saracevic’s Sunday column bears this headline: “Warriors need to part ways with Andris Biedrins.” You get the idea.

Plus: Rusty Simmons is all over Biedrins in his game story for the Warriors’ 106-97 win over Houston tonight, noting high up how the big Latvian was yanked after six minutes of “zero” effort, and that for the opening tip he even lined up facing the wrong basket.

Yet: Mark Jackson continued to be protective of Biedrins—who still has two years left on a six-year, $36 million deal—after the game, calling him the team’s “only legitimate center” in answer to a question about why he continues to start.
