Got to feel for Cal coach Jeff Tedford, who only three weeks ago had so many high school blue chippers committed to play football for him that Cal was on practically every recruiting expert’s Top 10 list. Then his best recruiter, assistant coach Tosh Lupoi, bolted for double the money to Washington (the morning after a key recruiting foray with Tedford, no less) and things soon went south. Several of Cal’s most prized recruits headed to Washington, UCLA and other schools on signing day yesterday. (Some perspective: Cal’s haul was still pretty good.)
Add: Meanwhile, Stanford’s class did make most Top 10 lists.
