  • The U. S. unemployment rate dipped to 8.3 percent in January, its fifth straight monthly decline. LA Times

  • Longtime Berkeley tree-sitter Matthew Dodt, arrested at People’s Park early last year, was given a 60-day suspended sentence and three years probation for illegal lodging. AP
