Bizarre tale involving Alameda County supervisor Nadia Lockyer, whose election two years ago was largely owing to husband and state Treasurer Bill Lockyer’s $10 million campaign war chest: She was reportedly assaulted 10 days ago while meeting with an ex-boyfriend at a hotel in Newark. The Chronicle’s Matier & Ross broke the news Sunday. The principal source: Bill Lockyer.
Add: Not a lot of detail, as you might expect. Newark’s police chief said the matter has been turned over to Alameda County district attorney Nancy O’Malley’s office for review. Police aren’t saying who the ex is. They’re calling the case “politically sensitive.” (Imagine that.) And then there’s this from Bill Lockyer: He says the ex-boyfriend “seems to have a long history of involvement with the criminal justice system, but her [his wife’s] only fault is occasionally having one too many drinks.”
Side note: Nadia Lockyer became an Alameda County supe after winning a 2010 runoff against Liz Figueroa, who used to date Bill Lockyer.
