Nadia Lockyer’s reputed ex-lover speaks about motel caper

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

imageJosh Richman at the Oakland Tribune apparently scored the first interview with Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer’s ex-lover since the story of her alleged assault in a Newark motel room broke over the weekend. And Stephen Chikhani, 35, of San Jose, isn’t pleased with the way he’s been portrayed by Lockyer’s husband, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer.

Add: Bill Lockyer told the Chronicle’s Matier & Ross that the man who allegedly attacked his wife “seems to have a long history of involvement with the criminal justice system, but her [his wife’s] only fault is occasionally having one too many drinks.” [The supervisor announced yesterday that she’s checked into rehab for substance abuse.] However, there’s this from the Richman piece:

But Stephen Chikhani, 35, of San Jose -- Nadia Lockyer's ex-lover and alleged attacker -- said Tuesday night that the only truths in the Lockyers' account of what happened are "that I have a record and that they were separated. ... Pretty much everything else was false, was made up by her husband.

"As of today, there is no warrant for my arrest," he said. "I tried calling the police; they won't call me back, so I feel like I'm being pushed into a corner."
