The inaugural Prize for Civility in Public Life, hatched up by Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, is going to PBS NewsHour commentators David Brooks and Mark Shields for their congenial way of often disagreeing. PBS bills the Shields and Brooks segment as “political conversation, not a shouting match.” If only cable news shows—where hacks with talking points are the norm—would follow suit.
