The biggest hurdles for the just-announced merger between The Bay Citizen and Berkeley’s Center for Investigative Reporting, home to California Watch, are likely to be internal stuff, stays Chris Rauber at San Francisco Business Times. That includes figuring out how to deal with a combined force of 65 staffers and 19 board members “which must be a new world record in the nonprofit board-member-to-staffing-ratio department.”
Add: Oh, and lest anyone forget, The Bay Citizen is a union shop. CIR/California Watch isn’t.
