Amelia Earhart breakthrough? Novato’s Kristin Tague hopes so

Monday, March 26, 2012

imageThat new forensic analysis of an old photo off tiny Gardner Island in the South Pacific has Amelia Earhart aficionados hoping it may show the landing gear of the legendary aviator’s Lockheed Electra. A new expedition is planned this summer by TIGHAR, or The International Group of Historic Aircraft Recovery. Paul Liberatore of the Marin IJ catches up with Kristin Tague, 58, of Novato, who’s a member and who hopes to make the trip. She tells him:
"Our case is circumstantial, but it's very strong. Still, we’ve never had a smoking gun, so we're hoping that we can find part of the aircraft.
