imageHere’s a voice on the sheriff's behalf that didn’t make it into the Chronicle’s Page 1 treatment of him today: former supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier. The Chron’s Heather Knight blogs that the ex-supe believes that, based strictly on what she reads in the papers, a lot of politics seem to be involved. An excerpt:
“I’m not sure I would call it a conspiracy, but I absolutely think that a part of it is political,” she said. “If anyone in our local government really believed he was a threat to his family or to his wife or his child, they should not have allowed him to plead out. The fact that he did shows that was not their concern.
Add: Alioto-Pier, who was rumored to be considering a run for state Assembly, isn’t. In June she plans to move her three kids to Italy for a year, Knight says.
