For those keeping count, the total number of prospective jurors in Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi’s domestic violence trial is up to 447, counting another 150 who were to be added to the jury pool this morning. (Prior to today, more than 200 had already been dismissed.) Even so, the sheriff’s attorneys say they’re skeptical that 12 acceptable jurors and a handful of alternates can be found in San Francisco.
Add: Judge Garrett Wong has yet to rule on Team Mirkarimi’s change of venue request, but the Chronicle’s Rachel Gordon quotes a Cornell University law professor as stating the obvious: that relocating a trial for a misdemeanor case is extremely rare.
