  • Gov. Jerry Brown blasts competing tax plans and tells the Chronicle's editorial board that his is the only one that can solve the state’s problems. 
  • Wal-Mart plans to roll out four of its Neighborhood Market grocery stores in the East Bay and South Bay. Contra Costa Times
  • Oakland will keep open the Digital Arts and Culinary Academy established by Councilwoman Desley Brooks under questionable circumstances, but will shift control of the center to the city. Chronicle
