Plans re-emerge for San Francisco’s tallest skyscraper

Monday, March 12, 2012

imageWhat would be San Francisco’s tallest skyscraper at First and Mission next to the future Transbay Terminal is back on the drawing board, slightly trimmed down—to 60 stories and 1,070 feet tall. For perspective, that’s 220 feet taller than the Transamerica Pyramid.
The Chronicle’s John King details the hurdles that await “Transit Tower,” but assuming there are no major stumbles, proponents hope that construction can begin late next year with a 2016 opening.

Add: King calls it “another sign that developers are confident the technology-driven revival of the city's economy is real and that there is a looming need for more commercial and residential space.”
