A new Public Policy Institute of California poll shows President Obama is well-positioned to win the state in November without much sweat. He holds a 53 to 37 percent lead over a hypothetical GOP challenger. But perhaps more interesting is what the poll portends for GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney. He holds a narrow 28 to 22 percent lead over rival Rick Santorum among California Republicans, with Santorum having gained 18 percentage points since December. Plus, roughly a quarter of likely GOP voters in the state say they’re undecided.
