What with his central role in the pending merger of the Center for Investigative Reporting with The Bay Citizen, Phil Bronstein probably has bigger fish to fry than being caught up in the hubbub surrounding Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi. Yet, the Chronicle’s Matier & Ross say the ex-Chron editor has been called as a potential witness in the sheriff’s domestic violence trial. Add: That’s by virtue of his contacts with Ivory Madison, the neighbor with whom Mirkarimi’s wife, Eliana Lopez, made the now-famous video of her bruised arm, before Madison went to police. Bronstein and his wife, Christine, also on the witness list, are friends of Madison.
