The company today announced 2,000 layoffs, or about 14 percent of its workforce to help it get “smaller, nimbler, more profitable and better equipped to innovate,” as CEO Scott Thompson says. For those keeping count, the once-high-flying Sunnyvale tech giant has about 14,100 employees, pre-layoff. It let go 1,500 in 2008, and 600 more in 2010. Chronicle
