The family of the late Oscar Grant has reached a deal to have Hollywood portray the life and death of the young man shot and killed by BART police at Fruitvale station New Year’s Day 2009. The independent film from producer Forest Whitaker and film partner Nina Yang is to be titled . . . “Fruitvale.” Filming in Oakland and elsewhere could begin in July, the Hollywood Reporter says.Add: Negotiations are underway for former “Friday Night Lights” regular Michael B. Jordan (pictured) to play Grant, and for Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer (“The Help”) to play Grant’s mother.
