Coming to Current TV: ‘The Gavin Newsom Show’

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

imageWhat’s an ambitious politician stuck in a job with time on his hands until he can run for governor to do? The answer, for Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, is moonlight as host of a weekly cable talk show on Current TV, starting in May. It’s to be called, what else, “The Gavin Newsom Show.”

Add: Media Decoder says a source at the San Francisco-based cable channel co-founded by Al Gore says that Newsom will be paid (although Current isn’t saying how much) and that Newsom will donate the payments to charity. An excerpt:
The talk show will be produced by Mia Haugen, formerly of CNN, The Street and Forbes. The time slot for the show is unknown, but it will likely be replayed several times on Saturdays and Sundays, giving Current TV new programming for the weekends for the first time.
