Even after being slowed by heart surgery in 2008 when he was nearly 90, Mike Wallace had promised to still do occasional reports for CBS’ “60 Minutes,” for which his name became synonymous. The master of the skeptical follow-up question whose aggressive style and aura of trust made him a TV journalist to be feared, died Saturday night at a care facility in New Canaan, Conn., where he had lived in recent years.
