Feds maligned ‘Thizz’ rapper label, Mac Dre’s mom says

Thursday, April 26, 2012

The late rapper Mac Dre’s mother, Wanda Salvatto, says she was surprised when the feds named Vallejo-based Thizz Entertainment in the roundup of two dozen rappers on drug distribution charges this week. She’s the CEO, and tells the Contra Costa Times that the artists arrested are part of an offshoot, ThizzNation.

Add: Her son, the late Andre Hicks, who had his own troubles with the law after founding Thizz Entertainment, was gunned down outside a Kansas City club in 2004 at the age of 34. His popularity has soared in death. An excerpt:
"Thizz Entertainment is actually me. There are no artists signed to the label,” said [Salvatto], who was not charged, or even mentioned, by federal authorities in their investigation. "I worked very hard to clean up and maintain a legitimate label and business for my son. I don't want to confuse what we do with our fans."
Noted: The DEA tells the CoCo Times it stands by its documents.
