Francis Ford Coppola sues Marin restaurant over its name

Friday, April 6, 2012

imageFrom the director of “The Godfather,” comes . . . a lawsuit against a Novato restaurant. Seems the owners of the former Pasta Moto reopened as Tavola Italian Restaurant and “A Tavola” is a registered trademark of the Coppola Family Trust. Lawyers for director Francis Ford Coppola, who owns Zeotrope in San Francisco and several other Bay Area restaurants, have put the Novato folks on notice that they consider the “Tavola” name a copyright infringement, the Marin IJ says.

Add: Coppola’s restaurants are well-known for their “A Tavola” service, in which servers without menus come to your table offering an assortment of dishes.
