Mikhail Baryshnikov talks about his stint at Berkeley Rep

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Mikhail Baryshnikov’s three-week starring run at Berkeley Rep in “In Paris” began last night and the great ballet dancer cum actor tells KQED’s Cy Musiker he has no illusions about earning back the $250,000 of his own money he put into the traveling production: “No, you're kidding. It's just a love affair. I love theater and I thought it's an interesting project and it was easier to finance it this way.”

Add: The musical play (co-starring Anna Sinyakina) is the tale of two lonely Russian emigres who settled in Paris in the 1930s. It’s in Russian and French with English supertitles. The interview: read or listen.
