It’s been almost a year since his arrest for alleged drunken driving, but San Carlos Mayor Andy Klein, 30, abruptly resigned yesterday, citing personal issues including a pending divorce. In his resignation letter, he said he was stepping down as both mayor and a member of the City Council, effective immediately.Add: He tells the San Mateo Daily Journal: “It’s a lot of things. It’s alcohol, it’s my marriage, it’s stress. I haven’t been taking the time to appropriately deal with everything and I can’t keep bulldozing ahead. At some point, people hit their breaking point.”
