Storm clouds have suddenly appeared over the Warriors’ much-ballyhooed hopes for next season. Both
Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut will undergo arthroscopic ankle surgery next week in Los Angeles. Bogut’s surgery is being portrayed as “routine,” although the Warriors are saying he won’t play for his native Australia in this summer’s Olympics, AP says. Curry’s situation is more serious, since, until now, it had been assumed he would not have to go under the knife. The fact that he will only raises more questions about the seriousness of his ankle woes and whether he’ll be back for the start of the season, and how effective he’ll be.
Add: As for the here and now, the Warriors have lost seven in a row. They play at Houston tonight and Minnesota tomorrow. They’ve lost 19 of 23 games since Monta Ellis was traded on a ‘wait-until-next-year’ gamble hugely dependent on the health of Bogut and Curry (shown above in bench streets, next to Andris Biedrins).
