Avalos says Ouija board remarks were meant as a joke

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Supervisor John Avalos now says he was just kidding Tuesday when he said he and his staff had consulted a Ouija Board to communicate with the late Harvey Milk. His remarks, during a Board of Supervisors meeting at which the supes voted 9-2 to support naming a Navy ship after the late gay rights activist, were widely reported in local media. But Avalos tells Joe Eskenazi at SF Weekly that he wasn’t serious.

Add: You can view the Board of Supervisors video, starting at the 13:07 mark. If he was trying to be funny as he says, it’s probably safe to say Avalos will never work as a comedian.
