Coit Tower's long-overdue spruce up

The mayor’s office announced yesterday that $1.7 million has been earmarked for lobby restoration that includes preservation work on its Works Progress Administration murals, as well as a new roof and restroom upgrades. As a gift to the city from the late Lillie Hitchcock Coit, the tower cost $115,000 when it was built in 1933. AP
