Gayle Uilkema, Contra Costa supervisor was 73

Sunday, May 20, 2012

The longtime supervisor who had battled ovarian cancer and who announced earlier this year she wouldn’t seek reelection in November, died Saturday morning at her home in Lafayette. She was 73. Before her 16 years as a supervisor, Uilkema had been a Lafayette city council member for 15 years, including four stints as mayor. That’s Uilkema with Sen. Barbara Boxer in 2010.
