Ira Glass disses graduation speeches—while giving one

The “This American Life” host begins by telling grads at Goucher College in the Baltimore suburbs that “the central mission of the commencement speech is in itself ridiculous: to inspire at a moment which needs no inspiration . . . What can words add except delay the moment you get your diploma?” About 17 minutes later, he was done. [Hat tip: Jim Romenesko]
