One small step today toward turning off the spigot of free gifts that
state lawmakers rake in for themselves. The state Senate, by a 33-1 vote, approved a measure to close a loophole that lets lobbyists’ employers each give a lawmaker up to $420 a year in goodies. They’ve come to include tickets to the Warriors and Lakers, Giants and Dodgers, golf at Torrey Pines, you name it.
