  • Ex-BART cop Johannes Mehserle asked an appeals court to overturn his involuntary manslaughter conviction for shooting unarmed passenger Oscar Grant III in the back at Fruitvale station in 2009. AP 
  • The East Bay Municipal Water District dropped its controversial plan to expand the Pardee Reservoir in the Sierra foothills. Lodi News-Sentinel
  • UC regents filed a lawsuit Wednesday against 14 protestors unlawfully occupying a university-owned patch of land along San Pablo Avenue in Albany and whose action has become known as Occupy the Farm. Chronicle
  • Electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to roll the first of its Model S sedans off its assembly line in Fremont in June, ahead of schedule. Mercury News
  • Yelp signed a lease for 100,000 square feet at the Pacific Telephone Building downtown, committing the popular online review site to San Francisco through at least 2020. Chronicle
