Mystery model, from the Costco hotdog stand, is found

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

The mystery model that budding artist Sam Bauman encountered eating a hot dog at a San Jose Costco Store and who by posing helped Bauman win a congressional art contest has been found. He’s Herman Barthule, 90, a retired pharmaceutical rep. The Mercury News, which wrote about Bauman’s efforts to find the man with the expressive face, says his phone’s been ringing since Monday after friends saw his portrait in the newspaper.
