State’s deficit now $16 billion; Brown to pitch revised budget

Gov. Jerry Brown drops some particularly bad news for the weekend: California’s budget deficit has ballooned to $16 billion—not the $9.2 billion that was talked about in January—and the state faces far more drastic cuts to schools and public safety than previously anticipated.
