Walnut Creek has entered the hunt for the state of the art digital production center that Star Wars director George Lucas had wanted to build in Marin County but abandoned after opposition. The proposed location: the city’s sprawling 240-acre Shadelands office park, which has a 20 percent vacancy rate. But the bid is in its infancy. The city manager has sent Lucasfilm a pitch, but there have been no discussions yet, the Contra Costa Times says.
