Warriors go public with plans for San Francisco move

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

As expected, the Warriors held their news conference today, with both Mayor Ed Lee and ex-mayor and now Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom looking on, to announce their plans to build a waterfront arena. All very official sounding. Now begins the process to see if building a nine-story tall enclosed arena protruding out into the bay will pass environmental and political muster in a city where building anything—especially on the waterfront—is never easy. Add: Whoever writes headlines for the Chronicle’s Matier & Ross column appears to have gotten a bit carried away: “Warriors to build new arena, move back to S. F.”
