Who knew? Four years ago, when it became the largest American city to declare bankruptcy, Vallejo and its hand-to-mouth finances were something of a laughingstock. Now out of bankruptcy and living within its means, Vallejo is being heralded as a model for cashed-strapped cities everywhere, the Washington Post says. There’s crime and real estate is in the toilet, but turns out there’s a silver lining.
