About last night’s not-so-secret foie gras party

Friday, June 22, 2012

Last night’s $65-a-head foie gras party at LesConcierges on Maiden Lane was maybe the worst-kept foodie “secret” in recent memory. Diners eager for another legal serving before the state law banning the fattened duck liver specialty takes effect July 1 had to walk a gauntlet of animal rights protesters—and TV crews—to get in the building. Here’s ABC 7’s video.

Add: The private gig was sponsored by online foie gras retailer Mirepoix USA. It packed up and moved from Napa to Nevada in anticipation of the ban. Its owner sounds pretty happy. She says demand is out the roof.
