Alameda supes deadlock on Nadia Lockyer’s replacement

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

And the beat goes on. Alameda County supervisors were supposed to choose an interim replacement for scandal-plagued former supe Nadia Lockyer by today. And they couldn’t. They ended up deadlocked 2 to 2 between Union City councilman Richard Valle and former state legislative aide Ana Apodaca. The Oakland Trib’s Angela Woodall says that among the (apparently serious) suggestions at one point during a futile meeting: that Valle and Apodaca consider drawing straws.

Add: The impasse means the supes have two more cracks at the appointment (with whoever is chosen facing election in November) before June 19, at which point state law dictates the choice will be Gov. Jerry Brown’s to make.
